About

Hello everyone, my name is Don and I teach French at Vintage High School in Napa, California, where I live with my wife Connie. We have two sons – Jeremie and Chris. They are my heart’s delight! I am also Co-Director of the Berkeley WL Project at UC Berkeley’s Language Center. I am a facilitator and blogger for the George Lucas Educational Foundation, Edutopia, and a member of the #LangChat Team of Moderators on Twitter.

I am interested in how to integrate PBLL (project-based language-learning) in World Languages using Web 2.0 tools in culturally relevant contexts with proficiency-based linguistic outcomes.

I have been very privileged to have lived and studied in France for four years, and in Canada and Senegal over the summer a few times. I have also visited South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and several countries in Europe – I love to travel and meet people.

I hold a BA in French from UC Berkeley, and an MA in French from UC Santa Barbara. I am a National Board Certified Teacher, and hold the CLAD and the CA Single Subject Teaching Credential in both French and History. I believe strongly in the importance of collaboration, so I am a member of AATF, ACTFL, CLTA, SWCOLT, FLA-NC and ASCD.
